Pigeons Love Life

Growing up I was fortunate enough to be able to follow my desire to have a pet . It was several actually. They were pigeon . I was able to get six from a school friend who also helped me make a coop, (pigeon cage), for them while they were homed. Homing a pigeon means keeping them confined for three months which can be a stretch of patience for a twelve year old. I never got them to keep them locked in a cage and the temptation to release them early was great but not pandered to. That great day arrived. I could open their cage door and they would fly out and come back. Sure they would I thought as I opened their cage door. Sure enough they flew away as fast as they could higher and higher until they ended up circling together high in the sky above my home. Unable to stay for them to return to their cage I left and went to school. I was so surprised to return home and lo and behold I had six happy pigeons all back safely in their coup.I was so relieved. Leaving them to fly around all day with the obvious joy they displayed daily which was truly a joy for me and a magnificent sight to behold. They seemed to clap their wings when they left my roof and coed often as the male pigeons showed off to the females. It was easy to see these birds have a love of life, maybe because they are free. |
